Here are some great tips that you can follow when cleaning your espresso machine with a good backflush detergent.

First, it is recommended that you clean the machine with a water backflush on the same day that is used. However, doing this once a week is also, as long as you are consistent about it. A detergent backflushing is something that you should do at least once every two weeks. Backflushing should be always be a part of your cleaning routine since the extra time that you take to do this can save you money in terms of future repairs. Furthermore, a clean espresso machine will always make your coffee taste better since there are less contaminants like leftover grinds or oil.

Second, at least once a month, try to decalcify your espresso machine with vinegar. Do this more frequently if you are using hard water. This process would ensure the removal of mineral buildup on your machine and prevent any problems from developing. Keep in mind that when there is mineral buildup on your machine, your coffee may take more time to drip. White vinegar can prevent this from occurring. Brew a vinegar solution with the machine and let it sit for half an hour. After this, throw the solution away and rinse your machine with clean water twice.

Third, remember that washing your carafe is something that needs to be done every time after use. However, over time, you will most likely still see some debris marring your machine. This is something that you can easily with a little rice. Fill the machine with soapy water and some rice. When the mixture is inside, swirl it around the machine and use a sponge to loosen up any stubborn debris. Rinse well with water after your are done cleaning. Click here for more info.

Mix it with water, where you add a quart of water to two table spoons of citric acid powder. Be careful because using this all the time can also cause buildup so rotate using this and a backflush detergent.
